Alright all you sweets munching, cacao crazed, banana maniacs

The golden orb of dessert food is dropping.

You’re welcome.

I have created a WONDER. And yes perhaps I am high on it right now, perhaps I have had it for breakfast and lunch AND A LITTLE BIT AFTER DINNER. Oh, am I still in capitals? I HADN’T NOTICED.

Probably not a good idea to throw down after dinner, seeing as it does contain fruit sugar and cacao highs. Unless you’re a super log sleeper like me and can space out into REM at the drop of an eyelid.

Where did this creation of greatness come from? Sweet greatness where?!

Well one day there were a bunch of bananas overhanging a fence. I ogled them with much respect and desire for many weeks. The owner of the fence seemed far from inclined to pick them. So one morning, Big Sister and I hitched our tree saw and went to dawn-town on those beauties. We left a few there so that the owners or the bats could get them, whichever was feistier.

Meanwhile, frozen banana forest in my freezer jumped out and became FROUSSE. And all was well in the world.

What are some good things about this whip snap? Let’s lay some things out on the fly:

  • Cacao for magnesium hit, apparently cacao also has a substantial effect on lowering blood pressure (wtf I know), and feeds the beneficial bifidobacteria in the colon.
  • Banana is a great source of potassium
  • Acai berry powder is an antioxidant mother
  • Maca, or Lepidium Meyenii as I like to vocally spin sometimes – is a wonderful adaptogen and has an affinity for balancing out the sex hormones.
  • Activated nuts have had the phytic acid ripped out of them – that’s stuff you don’t want up in your gut – it drags out a bunch of your happy minerals. If you want to read more on this check out this Mark’s Daily Apple post.
  • Stevia (green unrefined powder) is uber sweet and is a great alternative to the sweet death trap that seductive body killer refined sugar is.
  • Protein powder is a fab little addition to help stabilise the blood sugar, well as much as you can in light of all this banana crap.
  • Coconut has antifungal properties, and is a great alternative to the mucus forming fronds of inflammatory dairy. PLUS it’s a medium chain triglyceride so it converts into energy nice an’ quick. Not much time for accumulating in you as big globs of fat at this rate. Hit Dr Axe’s Coconut Milk Nutrition article for more on that.

Remember to go back up to the top of this and hit the ‘method’ tab for the recipe instructions. I know one of you got lost on that last time 🙂
